亿万富豪万国立请来了曾是警队中精英的陈志杰（刘青云饰）来保护他的独生女儿Jennifer（梁咏琪饰）。由于Jennifer不喜欢有人监视她，所以志杰必须假扮成一个服侍Jennifer的菲律宾男佣Mario从而得到丰厚的酬劳。与Jennifer相处的过程中，志杰发现她是一个非常单纯的女孩子，身边没有朋友，全部都是冲着她的钱来的，她每天更是挥霍无度。因此她的父亲万国立决定以病重及破产为理由，以欺骗女儿，好让她学会自立更新。 Jennifer刚开始搬到一般草根阶层居住的小区时，非常不习惯，当她困于生活，需要样样亲历亲为的时候，她发现了父亲白手起家的不容易，她誓要把病重的父亲治好，努力挣钱。她与Mario同共患难，彼此间有了深厚的感情，当她知道原来一切都是好心欺骗她的时候，她也正好面对了自己对志杰的感情。
